I’ve been playing guitar for over 24 years, and during that time I’ve played in a number of live band, including some minor festivals, and playing on stage with Tom Hingley of Inspiral Carpets fame. I studied Music Technology at college, and have recently started creating guitar videos on youtube again.

I have always used Laney amps, but have had various guitars and pedals over the years. My previous band stopped playing together before the pandemic, and I am looking to find some musicians to be creative with again, as I miss playing in a band.

Here is my 2024 track ‘Satirical Magazine Readings’:

My Music Journey:

Here’s a recording of a bridge & Guitar solo I wrote and recorded for ‘Breathe Anew’ circa 2015 with miLarKey- the guitar solo starts around 35 seconds in:

This next track ‘Cut’ was recorded with miLarKey, the song was originally written by me and then we adapted it to the band. All guitar parts are recorded by myself:

Another track we did called ‘Drama queen’. This track is less polished, but has some cool ideas - and I love the bridge:

One of the last songs miLarKey were working on ‘Call To Arms’ from our behind the scenes writing and rehearsal sessions we were doing:

A Cringe-able but fun compilation of snippets recorded on phones at rehearsals between 2012 and 2015:

In 2014 we played the Folk & Blues Festival & the localised Purley festival, which was a lot of fun. For these gigs we went all acoustic, and even briefly played under the name ‘Milwaukee’ instead of miLarKey. After this period of time I moved abroad to Australia, but eventually to return, having lost the custom glass slide I had made for the festivals.

On Stage With Tom Hingley

Jumping further back in time I was in a handful of punk rock and alternative rock bands in the 00’s. This was a fun time during my life, where not a lot of material survived from. The Most notable during this time is my work with Cameraface in Speechless X & the Sunaru Project. You may recognise that last one, as we eventually used the same name for Sunaru Gaming on youtube- our short lived gaming channel. Anywho, here’s a couple of tracks from when we were teenagers, it’s a little raw,Unwieldy, and very cringe - but it’s defo punk rock haha:

What I do have access to however is some of the experimental synth pop/rock recordings I did. This included a particular track I was asked to record for an art project for PeteThor. I was asked to record something to exactly 16 minutes 37 seconds, and for the track to change slightly at different specific timings during the track. It starts off with a sparse clean guitar, changes to some atmospheric synth keyboard and classical string sounds I recorded, and ends with a more dense version of the original part. It’s not a rock piece, it goes with a piece of art that was created, and was fun. I named the piece ‘Jenolan Caves’, after the caves I visited in Australia :

Here is the first and only recording of me doing ‘vocals’. Used almost constantly in my photography videos as an intro and outro - the 2nd verse is Definitely better than the first - contains the line ‘Entropy is calling like it wants a release, this quantum shift ain’t gonna get me’ is probably the most Associated line with me on the internet:

Before this, I was obsessed with the idea of doing things in one take, and writing something and just leaving it as it is - a snapshot recorded at that point in time if you will. I would use different loops and then record guitar and keyboard over the top/layering to make some semblance of music. Here’s a couple of tracks below to showcase what I mean, all of which have been used in my photography videos on my youtube channel:

In the late 00’s I was doing lots of guitar pedal and amp demos on youtube. I was really excited when I managed to get hold of a White Laney VH100R, and did a Comparison video with the IRT60H. Laney were kind enough to send me some valves for the VH100R.:

So going forward in my next chapter in my music journey.
