So last night (New Years Eve) I recorded a video for 2017 highlights, and was deep into the early hours editing. It is probably my longest video to date, but everything talked about is relevant. It is mostly a recap of the gear I have used and reviewed, along with trips I have made (Helsinki etc.).
I thought I would add a few more thoughts in blog form, as I did not want the video to run on endlessly. 2017 has been a tough year, having had some bad news at the end of 2016 in the family. There have been a lot of difficult moments, but photography has been a fantastic tool to vent.
I am now fully established in terms of my photography workflow and routine. I know exactly what I want, and have the technical know-how to go out and achieve things. My eye for shapes and abstractions has gotten a lot better.
Enter 2018 and the Mamiya 645 1000s. An important camera for me, the 645 is my first real venture into medium format, and I am looking forward to using the system. I will be putting several rolls of film through it, starting with my test roll of XP2 (1 exposure left!). I will also continue to review the vintage zuiko OM lenses, and may pick up one or two that are on my wish list.
I will also attempt to do more videos on the vintage olympus rangefinders. I currently have the RD, and will be putting rolls through that. I have had the little RC in the past, but the lens is nothing to write home about.
All in all, I hope to make more progress in 2018, and will be setting myself personal goals to achieve (in photograph and life). Anywho, enough babbling, get out there and create!
